Thank You TIVO

There are some inventions that I've always regarded as being some of the "Best Inventions Ever". The DVR is up there with the best of them, in my mind. Have you ever thought about how much time you can save by paying the extra 5$ per month to get a DVR? 30 minute shows can be watched in 20 (simple math... 1 hour shows in 40 mins), NBA games in 1 hour, NFL games in 45 minutes while still catching every play! Not to mention the gratitude of skipping Olympics Ice Dancing and getting straight to the good stuff.

Of course, some people's counter argument is that you watch a ton of shows/sports/junk that you wouldn't normally watch so you're wasting time. I'll admit, I have 32 unwatched Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien episodes along with some movies from over a year ago that I've never gotten around to, but you never know when you'll need some of those for a rainy day, right?

The DVR's biggest enemy? Facebook and text messages. "KOBE DOES IT AGAIN!!!" is a sure-fire way to F up my plans of watching my recording. My solution? Don't open facebook and ignore all text messages received from another diehard sports fan friend.

Complimenting the DVR as a Best Invention Ever is Hulu.
